The Do it Best Spring Market – Driven to Be the Best

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA – With thousands of great purchasing opportunities, the launch of an innovative paint department design, and dozens of education and networking events, Do it Best Corp. welcomed thousands of its member-owners and vendors to its spring market, held May 19-22 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

With the theme Driven to Be the Best, this spring market was designed to help Do it Best Corp. members, as well as a record number of prospective members in attendance, discover what it means to have a co-op partner driven to provide the best products and programs to help them grow and achieve their dreams.
“The time is now for our members to take full advantage of all the growth opportunities available to them,” said Dan Starr, president and CEO of Do it Best Corp. “This market spotlights how we’re driven to be the best. And with another outstanding opportunity for our members to lock in the best deals, while building their knowledge through expert-driven seminars and workshops, and connect with their peers, we also believe there’s no better time to experience the spring market.”
Raising the bar with paint
Do it Best Corp. raised the bar with paint at the spring market, officially unveiling The Color Bar, its new and re-envisioned in-store experience for members’ paint department. With a strong focus on color and product selection, supported by a range of scalable configurations, the program is available to all Do it Best Corp. members as either a new installation or retrofit of existing paint fixtures. The Color Bar offers a consumer-focused design with a strong emphasis on key category trends, along with cross-merchandising opportunities, product flexibility, and affordable implementation.
Tailoring to the tradesman
As it did at its last fall market, Do it Best Corp. featured its expanded commitment to the pro/tradesman category, offering up a wide assortment of planograms for members selling to – or interested in selling to – contractors, tradesmen, and professionals. The spring market featured pro/tradesman-focused planograms and products throughout the floor as part of existing department and category displays.
Stocking up on savings opportunities
As always, the market floor offered tremendous savings opportunities for members, especially during the popular Friday Night Sneak Peek® and Super Saturday Specials. For this market, Do it Best Corp. made sure members were taking full advantage of the many buying opportunities with the roll-out of the Market Savings Builder, a new online tool that enabled members to efficiently plan, order, and confirm the market’s best deals prior to their arrival in Indianapolis. This advance planning and ordering provided more time for members to discover new products and network with vendors and Do it Best Corp. staff on additional growth opportunities while at the market.
Enjoying market enhancements
The Market Savings Builder is the latest in a number of initiatives Do it Best Corp. has rolled out in the past year, all geared toward enhancing the overall market experience for attending members. These enhancements include moving the Market Kickoff to Friday afternoon to serve as a true lead-off to the weekend, moving the Merchandising Preview to Saturday morning to generate additional member excitement prior to the official opening of the market floor, and expanding networking opportunities for LBM members on Friday with both the LBM Industry Update and luncheon plus the evening LBM Reception.
“When you’re driven to be the best, you hold yourself to a very high standard,” Starr added. “At Do it Best Corp., when it comes to the experience our members have at our markets, we are never going to be satisfied with good enough. We are encouraged by the extremely positive feedback we’ve received about these enhancements and how they are helping our members grow and achieve their dreams.”
