Tum-A-Lum Lumber Company earns national recognition for new Hood River showroom

December 5, 2016, FORT WAYNE, INDIANA – Tum-A-Lum Lumber Company is among an exclusive group of lumber and building materials dealers nationwide recently recognized with a premier industry award.

Tum-A-Lum won the top 2016 ProSales Excellence Award for Facility Design for its new showroom and lumberyard in Hood River. The company opened its new Hood River location in June after a six-month remodel and expansion process.

The ProSales Excellence Awards are an annual home improvement industry awards program celebrating business leaders whose creativity and ingenuity have both improved their own companies and set new
benchmarks for lumber and building material dealers. The awards are facilitated by ProSales magazine, with judging conducted by a panel of four industry experts and leaders.

“Dealers who want to win and succeed in today’s LBM environment have to do a lot of things well, as Tum-A-Lum clearly demonstrates,” explained Craig Webb, Editor-in-Chief of ProSales. “By bringing a more retail-like experience to the traditional LBM showroom and emphasizing the natural beauty of its surroundings, Tum-A-Lum’s Hood River location stands out among the industry for its innovative and forward-thinking design.”

To better engage its growing retail customer base and embrace its picturesque Columbia River Gorge surroundings, Tum-A-Lum incorporated a number of retail-focused touches in its new, 10,000-square-foot showroom in Hood River. These include the use of floor-to-ceiling windows to allow in more natural light, provide panoramic views and attract customers from the outside. In addition, removing interior support columns further enhances the open flow of the showroom and its bright, airy feel. Additional features include a full color-match paint center and expanded design center.

“This award is an incredible honor for everyone on our team,” said Tum-A-Lum CEO David Dittmer. “To earn such exclusive recognition is a testament to the vision we had for this showroom, as well as the patience and teamwork necessary to make the remodel a success. Most importantly, of course, has been the positive response and support of our community and our customers.”
